The spectrum of cosmetic dentistry offered at Prestige Dental Clinic includes white fillings, teeth bleaching, veneers and crown & bridge work.

White Fillings

Silver amalgam fillings have been around for many years and many people have them in their mouth.  Although the silver fillings are highly durable, most people don’t like the appearance of them, especially when they laugh or smile.  At Prestige, we believe that fillings can be natural looking as well as highly durable and  fully functional.  White composite fillings are available at the practice and these can be put in when you initially are diagnosed with a cavity or they can be done if you want old silver fillings replaced.

To give you a whiter smile we have tooth bleaching available.  An initial consultation is always required
with your dentist to establish suitability for bleaching. This is because crown & bridgework, veneers
and existing fillings do not change colour with bleaching and may become more noticeable after
unsuitable bleaching is done.

The bleaching process itself is quite straightforward.  This is usually done by making moulds of your teeth and creating individually designed trays of your upper and lower teeth.  After we have the moulds returned, you will be given the moulds and several tubes of bleach to use in the comfort of your own home.  This method is proven to be the most effective way to bleach teeth and not harmful to your teeth.

Veneers are made from very thin layers of porcelain or composite to sit on the front of your teeth.  This can make teeth look natural and healthy, and because they are very thin, minimal tooth preparation is needed.

Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of teeth.  A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured or stained tooth or to lighten several front teeth.  Veneers can also be used to close small gaps or to bring a tooth which is slightly out of position into line if orthodontics (braces) are not suitable.

Crowns are sometimes necessary when teeth are badly broken down or have very large fillings in them.  Crowns are designed to fit over the existing tooth structure giving it the necessary strength and support.

Traditionally, gold crowns are used now on the NHS which although durable can be unsightly.  We aim to provide a crown that is designed to give you back the original looking shape, colour and contour of a natural tooth which will blend in perfectly with your existing dentition.

Bridges are required when one or more teeth are missing filling the gap of the missing tooth/teeth. The bridge is secured to a natural tooth for stability enabling the space to be filled giving the appearance of a regular tooth.
